Mike Saguiguit will now handle the basketball program of the University of the Perpetual Help in Las Piñas.
Saguiguit was asked by the school to take over after multi-titled coach Frankie Lim left the organization.
The rebuilding activities of the senior and junior cage campaign of the Altas in the coming season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association will be his task in the coming months.
“I have been asked to take care of the senior and junior teams since coach Frankie Lim said he will leave,” said Saguiguit.
Lim’s decision to leave the school’s athletic organization came after the Las Pinas-based University closed down its sports activities following restrictions that were imposed to stop the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
The senior team, with the exception of 6’7” sophomore Mario Barasi Jr., remains largely intact.
Barasi is the only member of the team who left.
The team will be looking for replacements for Barasi from among their high school players.
Lim left after his contract was suspended since the shutdown took place.
The University reportedly plans to reactivate the sports program next year, when the next season of the NCAA is expected to take place.
