CeMAP, PISI support Bayanihan 2, recovery

The Cement Manufacturers Association of the Philippines and Philippine Iron and Steel Institute expressed support to the government’s prioritization of local products and construction materials for infrastructure projects under Bayanihan to Recover as One Act, or Bayanihan 2.

CeMAP and PISI said in a statement they were committed to supporting the nation on the road to recovery amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This is done not just through relief aid but also by ensuring continued operations of the construction materials industries while ensuring the health and safety of employees to preserve as many jobs as possible.

CeMAP said the use of local building materials such as cement and steel for the “Build, Build, Build” program can help support the nation’s economic recovery by continuing to preserve jobs, contributing to the national income through taxes and ensuring that the multiplier effect of supporting local businesses is fully taken advantage of.
