SIGC's new found glory

The field of Subic International Golf Club of today is a far cry from what it was seven months ago. It was February of 2018 when a storm hit the Subic Area. The storm brought flashfloods that destroyed many properties and one of the affected places was the course of Subic International Golf Club.

After seven long months of non-stop renovation and redesigning the Subic International Golf Club is set to be one of the best golf courses in the country. Covered in a seashore paspalum, the said golf course is a definite representation of every golfer’s dream paradise.

The golf course offers a full 18 holes, but golfers do not need to worry of walking the whole course for SIGC have Golf Carts that also have their own Caddies to assist golfers that will play in the golf course.

What’s interesting in SIGC is that the secret why its golf course is in a good putting condition, the paths are well manicured, and has fertilize fairways is because of the hard work of their maintenance crew that are mostly composed of Aeta People that came from the neighboring places. A good plus for the management as this move reflects how they value true hard work for their future golfers and club members.

Challenge is a familiar word inside the golf course of SIGC. A game between the executives of The Manila Standard and other guests let our team distinguish which holes are the most challenging and which are not. As the players described it, the golf course is ‘deceptive’ as it appears to be an easy one but the moment they felt how challenging and tricky the golf course of SIGC is. For Jerry Tecson of 3 Unders Golf Team, hole number eleven is the most challenging part of the course because of it up and downslope.

“The course is comparable to other Asian countries like Vietnam and Malaysia”, said Jeff Sevilla of 3 Unders Golf Team. He also added that to be able to enjoy the golf course, one must have precision to score.

The new administration of SIGC started their operation 9 months ago and are still to apply more changes in the coming months but one thing is for sure SIGC is prepared and equipped to rival the best golf courses in the Philippines or even in South East Asia.
