House panel sees probable cause to impeach Sereno

The House Justice Committee has cast its vote: 38-2

38 members found probable cause to impeach Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Lourdes Sereno.

Two members voted against the impeachment.

House Committee Chairperson Reynaldo Umali says, a technical working group will now prepare the committee report and the Articles of Impeachment.

Lawmakers will once again hold a hearing on March 14 to vote on whether or not to approve the committee report.

Umali also said they will now prepare to serve as prosecutors in the impeachment trial expected in the Senate.

There will be 11 prosecutors from the House of Representatives.

They will be backed by a legal support group and some spokespersons will be assigned to speak for the prosecution.
