The House Justice Committee's vote of 38-2 finding probable cause to impeach Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Lourdes Sereno is already expected.
Sereno's spokesperson Attorney Josa Deinla recalled the previous public statements of the members of the House Committee on Justice were showing clear signs that they would push for the impeachment of the chief justice.
"Hindi na namin yan ikinabigla (We are not surprised)," Deinla said.
Sereno today delivered a speech at the convention of Phillippine Women Judges at the Manila Hotel.
She criticized the House Committee on Justice for supposedly being unjust and unfair.
She said after holding several hearings, the committee failed to come up with evidence to prove she committed a wrongdoing.
She said the allegations hurled against here were nothing more than gimmickry.
