NO owner would be happy to see his team losing all of its first five games in the KFC-Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup.
But Raymond Yu, Rain or Shine Elasto Painters’ co-owner, is not pushing the panic button. In fact, he remains confident his team would bounce back and get itself in contention in the tournament.
“I have high hopes for this team,” Yu told Standard Today. “I had a meeting with them and gathered their thoughts on our first five games. We knew it won’t be easy as there were seven players who came over. Our objective right now is to develop team chemistry. We’re a talented team but we’re not yet a solid unit.”
Last season, the Elasto Painters achieved so many firsts in their franchise history. They were able to secure their best winning record in four years of stay in the country’s premier professional league and made it to the Final Four for the first time.
With promising rookies like Jervy Cruz and Marcy Arellano joining the squad and several talented players like veterans Mark Telan and Mike Hrabak and sophomore Jeff Chan beefing the squad anchored on Gabe Norwood and Sol Mercado, the Elasto Painters were even ranked as one among the teams to look out for this season.
