Riders can take along their bicycles starting tomorrow in trips on both lines of the Light Rail Transit Authority.
The “green” innovation followed the change in crew uniforms ordered by general manager Mel Robles, said information officer Maria Kristina Cassion.
“The last coach will be for cyclists and their foldable bikes on Line 1 (Baclaran to Monumento) and Line 2 (Recto-Santolan) systems,” she said.
The first coach is reserved for senior citizens along with pregnant mothers, children and persons with disabilities.
According to Cassion “BIKE-O2” (Bike On, Bike Off) will go on a maiden run at 10 a.m. starting at the Araneta Center Cubao station in partnership with the Firefly Brigade, UP Mountaineers, Padyak Project Foundation, and the Tiklop Society.
Cassion said the bicycle project adopted the practice of other countries as one way of lowering the level of pollution especially in the metropolis.
Earlier, Robles flagged off a culture trip through an exhibit of winning paintings on the train experience also at the Cubao Diamond-Gateway stop. Florante S. Solmerin and Gigi Muñoz David
