I’ve heard a few horror stories from people that have tried lash extensions with most claiming that when the extensions gradually fell off; their real lashes fell off with them. For a woman, this experience can be quite traumatic. So you can imagine my apprehension when I visited the Browhaus over at Greenbelt 5 (they also have one in Serendra, Fort Bonifacio, FYI). I don’t exactly have lashes to spare if you know what I mean. So I raised these apprehensions to Monique Jamlang, Browhaus’ charming manager whom in the end was able to convince me to take the plunge with a promise that my lashes won’t fall off in their expert hands.
The procedure itself took 45 minutes and though this sounds long, it wasn’t too bad. Maybe because I spent the entire time chatting it up with the expert I had entrusted my peepers to. According to my eyelash specialist, they use the highest quality lash follicles and follow the natural curve of the eyelids for a very natural look. All in all they used 50 follicles per eye on me.
There was a little bit of discomfort, which is just about normal whenever someone else is fiddling around with your eyes, but I must say that there was zero pain and the result was exactly what they claimed: “lashes that look lush, natural and oh-so-sexy!”
Walking out of the Browhaus I felt like Bambi, and quite frankly I couldn’t help but flutter my lashes at my friends who I eventually met up with for dinner. Points were scored for Browhaus when my friends mentioned that my lashes looked longer but they never would have thought I had extensions on.
But I knew the true test would really be the maintenance of it. I was told not to swim in a pool for a week, to use only cool water when washing my eyes, to not rub it, to not spray water directly to my face in the shower, to not use mascara and if I should really need to use eyeliner, to use one that is not waterproof as this is harder to remove.
It’s been more than a week since I put on my lashes and though they are still extremely pretty and intact (both the fake and the real), I have to admit I find it to be a little too high maintenance for me as I love to spray water directly on my face when I shower, darken my lashes with mascara, can’t live without my waterproof eyeliner and have not much patience for removing it carefully and tediously with a cotton bud and prefer to rub it off gently with my fingers and some eye make-up remover. But I would definitely do it again for a special occasion or I would recommend it to someone who is generally more patient than I am. If you are as “cowgirl” as me though and prefer a more low maintenance upkeep of your lashes, I would highly recommend their Lash Curl Up which is a step up of a lash perm. Their technology promises (and delivers) “full maximum curls with maximum volume”.
So whatever you decide, just make sure you always entrust your pretty peepers to the experts and right now, there’s no one better than the Browhaus.
