KC can’t make movies with Binoe, Aga

by Joseph Peter R. Conzalez

KC Concepcion is very proud that Swatch is backing up her advocacy against hunger as ambassador of the United Nations World Food Program in the Philippines. This is the reason why the project KC Cares, Swatch Shares came into being.

“It’s so heartening that Tita Virgie [Ramos, owner of the Philippine franchise of Swatch] committed to the project after our meeting. I’ve known her since I was a kid. Actually, for every purchase of any Swatch timepiece which is part of their Fall/Winter 2009 collection, Swatch will donate a certain amount enough to feed a hungry child for a month. I’m grateful to Swatch for supporting my cause. What makes this project extra special to me, too, is that it is my first watch endorsement. Isn’t it great? The timing is just perfect,” she says.

Because small bells were the give-away items in the said event as a way of welcoming KC to the Swatch family, many wonder when is the right time for her to get married.

“I don’t know! Ha-ha-ha! Only time will tell. I love to be in a relationship with someone at this very moment but that doesn’t mean I’m ready to get married anytime soon.”

Speaking of her love life, people are curious as to the real status of her relationship with her Lovers in Paris co-star Piolo Pascual.

“It’s still the same. We’re working every day, we have projects together and we meet a lot of people. We agreed to focus on our career first. If it’s something that is bound to happen, then let it be. But if things don’t turn out that way, we should be thankful that we’ve learned from each other!”

In the same event, KC interestingly reveals her frustration to team up on the big screen with some of our popular senior leading men.

“Yes, like Robin Padilla! I would love to be her leading lady in one project. I like his image: rugged but respectful to women. I also know that he’s a fun person to be with. It’s just that he was once the love team of my mom [Sharon Cuneta]. The same also goes for Aga Muhlach. He partnered with my mom in a movie a few years ago. He does films with other younger actresses but with me, it wouldn’t feel right. You know the feeling of being uncomfortable because your mom was his leading lady before? There are really limitations but that’s a fact of life I should accept.”

How about a movie with her dad Gabby Concepcion?

“That’ll be great! I’m looking forward to it. My dad is a good thespian. I’m sure I’ll learn a lot from him. There’s no conflict anyway since my mom is not repulsive to the idea,” KC ends with a smile.

Adios, Rosalinda!

Carla Abellana admits she’ll miss her Rosalinda family. The show is now on its final week.

“I think it’s understandable. It’s my first acting exposure yet I was already a lead. I’ve learned a lot, which made me realize I’m so blessed to be given a launching vehicle. Considering, too, that there are a lot of showbiz wannabes out there. I’m grateful for the support of the viewing public. They made Rosalinda a success,” she states.

Her SRO Cinemaserye presentation Carinderia Queen opposite Geoff Eigenmann is also rating well.

“Yes, I was told. It’s a different genre and Geoff and I are now enjoying comedy. It’s definitely a breather from our heavy drama in Rosalinda. I’m thankful to GMA for giving me follow-up projects, like I’m also hosting StarStruck V alongside Raymond Gutierrez and Dennis Trillo. I’m assured of two shows per year and my next big one is still with Geoff.”

Carla says she has fully adjusted to the biz.

“Unlike before when I was still reluctant, remember? Now, I’ve learned to love the business, the routine, the people, basically the whole system,” she avers.

Recently, she’s being intrigued as a prima donna after Rosalinda became a hit.

“That’s not true! In fact, I just laugh it off. You can ask my co-workers regarding my attitude. That’s one thing I promised myself before I entered show business: that I’ll never end up a diva.

“My grandmother [Delia Razon] always reminds me of the value of humility and I’m applying it right now. In my short stay here, I realized that no matter how hard you try, there will always be some people who will say negative things about you. I just don’t mind them. Instead, I just focus my attention to work!”

Carla says work is the main reason why Geoff Eigenmann isn’t courting her.

“Let’s just say that it’s my choice. I told him that I still have big dreams for myself and my family, like I want to buy a house for my mom. For the longest time, we live with my grandmother. I’m saving for that. With Geoff, it’s better to concentrate on our respective jobs first. GMA is giving us the big breaks so we might as well make the most of it, right? I just also came from a five-year relationship so I’m not in a hurry to jump into a new one.”

But if ever she’s ready and Geoff is still there, will she accept him?

“Well, of course! I can’t deny the fact that he’s the closest guy to me as of now. I like his being true and caring. I can’t discount the possibility that I might end up with him in the future,” Carla states.
