Ampatuans join opposition to martial law proclamation
A LAWYER representing the Ampatuan clan has asked the Supreme Court to lift military rule in Maguindanao, which was imposed after the election-related massacre of 57 people in that province on Nov. 23.

Mindanao-based bishops back military rule
THREE bishops on Sunday issued pastoral letters exhorting Catholics to back the declaration of martial law in Maguindanao, saying the “cycle of abnormal situation and violence have worsened,” meriting a “decisive move and extraordinary response” to the situation in the province.
