Pangasinan honors top achievers

Health Secretary Francisco Duque, National Police Chief Jesus Verzosa and Presidential Management Staff Secretary Hermogenes Esperon Jr. lead the honorees during a reunion and fellowship of prominent Pangasinenses on March 14 at Waterfront Hotel (formerly Manila Pavilion).

Club Pangasinense, whose members include former President Fidel Ramos and Gov. Amado Espino Jr., will pay tribute to the illustrious sons of Pangasinan who include Land Transport chief Arturo Lomibao, Audit chairman Reynaldo Villar, Undersecretary Antonio Villar of the Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group, Chief Pedro Cabuay of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency and police director Leopoldo Bataoil.

The reunion aims to reactivate the Club Pangasinense after a long hiatus, Club president Adonis Samson and executive vice president Melandrew Velasco said in a joint statement, “The idea to reorganize Club Pangasinense which is a potent organization of businessmen and professionals based in Manila was unanimously approved in a meeting last Feb. 7 by the club founders who saw the need to unite Pangasinenses and bring back the glory of Pangasinan.

“We are repositioning Club Pangasinense as an active partner of the Pangasinan Provincial Government to serve as a catalyst for camaraderie and networking among Pangasinenses in Metro Manila and overseas who are called upon to contribute their resources, profession and expertise—for the good of the province of Pangasinan,” Samson said. Club Pangasinense was very active during the incumbency of Mr. Ramos, one of the most illustrious sons of Pangasinan.
