| Call center firm denies mass layoff of workers
ACCENTURE is laying off not half but only 3 percent of its workers in the Philippines, the call center company said in a statement. It said that on Jan. 15 it implemented a redundancy program affecting about 500 employees, or about 3 percent of its workforce in Manila and Cebu that total 16,000. ?The redundancy program affected the Delivery Center Network for Technology organization in the Philippines,? the company said. ?Accenture continues to recruit in the Philippines for other essential skills to meet client demand. The decision was made after a thorough review of its business in the Philippines, from which Accenture saw the need to balance the skills of its workforce with the demand from its clients. ?The Accenture Delivery Centers in the Philippines are an integral part of Accenture?s Global Delivery Network. Accenture has been in the Philippines for over 20 years now, and remains firmly committed to its business here.? |
