| Angping stays put, for now
By Peter Atencio EXECUTIVE Secretary Eduardo Ermita yesterday said Philippine Sports Commision chairman Harry Angping will stay put and initiate a dialog to iron out whatever misunderstandings he has with officials of the Philippine Olympic Committee. ?For now, he remains as chairman of the PSC,? said Ermita following talks with Angping last Tuesday with regards to the resolution made by the POC executive board asking President Arroyo to immediately relieve Angping and appoint a more suitable and knowledgeable replacement. Ermita discussed Angping?s fate during a press briefing in Malaca?ang, adding that it is too premature to look for a replacement for Angping since he has been in office for less than a month. Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque, whose agency has oversight functions over the PSC, will have more discussions with Angping today when the PSC chief arrives from Taipei. Angping was in Taipei yesterday to attend an AIBA meeting with officials of the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines, and will be in Hong Kong on Friday to watch the Philippine tennis team see action in the Davis Cup. Duque is expected to broker a dialog between Angping and POC officials led by its president Peping Cojuangco Jr. The PSC chief explained to Ermita that his misunderstandings with the POC started when he discussed about prioritizing the selection of homegrown talents for the national team over Fil-foreign athletes.
