Tony Roma?s premium house brands

By Nana Nadal

Who says three?s a crowd? Definitely not anyone who has experienced the trio that Tony Roma?s has created with its suppliers for its All-American Steak & Wine promotion. At the recent launch of its latest marketing effort, Tony Roma?s introduced its diners to the Swift 1855 brand of meat. The specific brand is meant to honor Master Butcher G.F Swift and the 150 successful years of the business he started with a $20 loan from his father. Through the short talk delivered by PTC Commercial Corp.?s representative Stanley Choi, we were informed of how the high-quality beef is hand-selected and hand-trimmed from only the finest cattle. And it was indeed a superior eating experience that the steak delivered with its mouth-watering goodness. The excellent marbling or intramuscular fat in the meat made every bite succulent, forcing me to give up the tummy space I was reserving for dessert.

I made sure to make a lot of room for the wines though. Happy Living Philippines Corp. brought a huge smile to my face with their Beringer Wines. I fell in love with wine all over again with the Beringer California Collection. I understand that this line was created for the younger drinkers looking for fruit-forward wines that are easy to appreciate. Ah, no wonder I enjoyed every sip, I fall under the market. Hah! I liked the hints of citrus, melon, and spicy ginger in the Chenin Blanc but what really got me asking for more was the White Zinfandel. Its pinkish color was very inviting and it was sweet, fresh and uncomplicated. I could?ve had glass after glass after glass! But of course, I had to make way for the Founders? Estate Cabernet Sauvignon which was the wine that came with the steak in the promo. It was yet another drink that went down easily with its structured tannins and long finish. I couldn?t imagine a better partner for the steak.

That was probably the same thought that the people behind Tony Roma?s had when they signed Swift 1855 and Beringer as their Premium House Brands for Steak and Wine. Both boast of exceptional quality and uncompromising standards, the same principles that drive the establishment famous for ribs and more, in 200 plus locations worldwide. None other than the United States Ambassador to the Philippines, Kristie Kenney, was there to join in the celebration of the occasion. She charmed everyone as she gamely posed for souvenir shots. And when it was time for her exit, she stopped at each table, shook hands with those within reach, and wished everyone a good meal.

The All-American Steak & Wine promotion runs until March 31. For P1,785, diners get a choice of Swift 1855 Premium Strip loin or Rib-Eye, or Tenderloin Steak with a glass of Beringer Founders? Estate Wine. A discount of 20 percent on all Beringer in bottles may also be availed during the promo period.

Great steak, excellent wine, cozy atmosphere. Just the right company one needs for a splendid meal.
