| Para?aque marks fire safety month
Para?aque City kicked off fire prevention month yesterday with a motorcade starting at the Central Fire Station at Kaybuboy Bridge, Sucat Road in Barangay San Dionisio. Fire Marshal Supt. Manuel Manuel led the city-wide awareness campaign to prompt residents on fire hazards particularly in summer due to overuse of electrical appliances and high temperatures. Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr. recently distributed new helmets, bunker coats, trousers and boots to firefighters, making them among the better-equipped units in the metropolis. ?Because fires exact terrible costs in property and lives, we must give our full support to the efforts of the fire department in preventing fires from occurring in our city,? he said. Among yesterday?s highlights were the launching of Patrol 117 Advocacy Campaign, signing of Oplan Bida (Barangay Integrated Defense Action Program) agreement between city hall and communties toward promoting fire safety, grassroots fire brigade skills competition, fire drills and demonstrations. |
