The 3,000-strong officers and members of the Philippine Association of Local Treasurers and Assessors Inc., headed by its president and Quezon City treasurer Victor Endriga, will end its three-day national convention at Manila Hotel today. The convention also marked the association?s 76th foundation year with the theme ?Resiliency in Facing Global Financial Challenges.? Delegates in attendance represented the 1,500 local government units spread out from Batanes to Jolo. The conference?s guests and distinguished speakers were Vice President Noli de Castro, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Senators Mar Roxas, Chiz Escudero and Ping Lacson; Local Governments Secretary Ronaldo Puno and Finance Secretary Margarito Teves. Other notable government executives that delivered messages were Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, Makati City Mayor Jojo Binay, Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca and Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte. ?In our own modest way, we will sustain our efforts and strive even harder to be more effective and more efficient in discharging our sworn duties and responsibilities. We know this road we tread leads to progress and development hereabout, and most especially in the grassroot or local level where we are mostly based,? said Endriga. Tony Macapagal |
