Holdupper robs 2 Dutch women

Two Dutch women were robbed by a lone hold-up man while on board a passenger jeepney late Monday night in Manila.

The victims were identified as Eva Mary Kappen, 23, and Anna Woudstra, 23, both single, temporarily residing at 1518 Leon Guinto St., Malate.

Case officer PO3 Henry Ligson, of General Assignment Section, said the robbery happened at 11 p.m. while the jeepney they were riding was at the Jones Bridge.

Driver Rogelio Andaya said the suspect, who posed as a passenger, suddenly pulled out a fan knife and was able to take Kappen?s P4,000 cash, and mobile phone, and Woudstra?s P600 cash and personal belongings.

Ligson said the robber fled on foot to nearby Quiapo.

Lack of police visibility in the crime-prone vicinity of Liwasang Bonifacio has not escaped the notice of night commuters. Jing Villamente
