No change in collegiate games? venues

THE University Athletic Association of the Philippines will continue staging its varsity basketball games at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao and at the Philsports Complex in Pasig.

League officials discussed their plans for the 72nd season in the wake of reports that the Philippine Sports Commission will try to lure the collegiate cage events of the UAAP and the National Collegiate Athletic Association back to the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

?We are now preparing for the games to be held at the Araneta Coliseum [Big Dome] and at the Philsports Arena,? said athletic director Mark Molina of this year?s host Far Eastern University during last Thursday?s turnover ceremony with the University of the Philippines.

The season opens with the senior basketball matches on July 11 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Incoming Season 72 president Anton Montinola of FEU vowed to introduce improvements which would help the league reach new heights. Montinola received the UAAP flag representing FEU as host from UAAP chief and UP chancellor Sergio Cao. Peter Atencio
