Four in shortlist of nominees to SC

The Judicial and Bar Council will submit to President Arroyo a shortlist of four nominees aspiring for a seat in the Supreme Court vacated by Associate Justice Adolfo Azcuna who reached his compulsory retirement last Feb. 16.
The Filipino public, including computer hackers, will get a chance to test if the voting machines for use in the 2010 elections are foolproof, according to the Commission on Elections.
Compromise sought on Smith’s detention

MALACAÑANG is open to a compromise agreement on the custody of convicted rapist Lance Cpl. Daniel Smith, saying that the Supreme Court ruling ordering his immediate transfer to a Philippine facility must be implemented without violating the provisions of the Visiting Forces Agreement.
