Kaikkonen rules Race of Champions

NEWCOMER Veli-Matti Kaikkonen showed promise as he ruled the TRS-Ford Focus Time Attack Race of Champions recently at the Subic International Raceway.

Determination and perseverance complemented Kaikkonen?s raw skills as he chipped in a fast time of 58.14 seconds to win the event sponsored by Goodyear, Ford Racing, Aguila Autoglass, SpeedLab, Unichip, K&N, H&R, Starbright Bodykits, Rota, OMP, Dupont, Philippine Auto Club, C! Magazine and Business World.

Roy Villarosa bagged runner-up honors just 0.03 seconds behind Kaikkonen as he clocked 58.17 seconds, while lady driver Joy Delorei, an avid racing enthusiast, took third place with a time of 58.65 seconds.

The other participants included Stefan Wolf, Raffy David and Marvin Herrera.

As part of TRS Race Development Program, Race of Champions is an opportunity for racing enthusiasts to try their hand in racing with proper training and value for money.  

?We are trying to help build motorsports by giving our student a way into the different disciplines of racing,? said JP Tuason, TRS founder and multi-awarded race car driver. ?We believe if we work together, we can make motorsports bigger in the country.?

TRS-Ford Focus Time Attack Race of Champions let their participants show off their skills using their speed, agility and keen mind. The participants were given one round of practice sessions and two timed sessions. The participant with the closest time in his or her qualifying time wins.
