Macapagal bats for dialog

INSTEAD of severing its ties with the Philippine Sports Commission, the Philippine Olympic Committee should have settled its differences and try to work with the new leadership headed by PSC chairman Harry Angping.

Philippine National Shooting Association chief Art Macapagal said the POC and the PSC must continue to work towards a harmonious working relationship.

?We?d like to see both parties work together and settle their differences in policies,? said Macapagal.

Macapagal said this will be one of the issues he plans to tackle in the next general assembly.

Officials of the POC and the PSC have yet to meet to thresh out their differences, since Angping has just returned from Hong Kong, where he watched the Philippines battle Hong Kong in their Davis Cup tie.

Cojuangco, on the other hand, is set to fly to Kuwait today to meet with officials of the Olympic Council of Asia and attend the inauguration of the OCA?s new office. He said he and other POC officials will brief OCA officials on the situation in the country.

A rift rose between the PSC and the POC last week after Angping said he will prioritize the selection of homegrown talents for the national team over the Fil-foreign athletes. Peter Atencio
