| Rosales, Delasin to defend title at year?s end
WORLD champions Jennifer Rosales and Dorothy Delasin would have to wait until the end of the Ladies? Professional Golf Association season and the Ladies? European Tour before they could defend their title in the Women?s World Cup of Golf. Officials of the Women?s World Cup, in coordination with LPGA and LET, have made a joint decision to move the tournament date at the end of the regular season instead of the opening salvo in January, which has been the tradition for the past four years. While the exact date for the 2009 event has not yet been finalized, the event organizers and the Tours will host the event toward the end of the season to create the best possible chance of attracting the world?s top players to South Africa. With the very best women players coming from all across the globe, the Women?s World Cup affords top professional players from 20 different countries such as Mexico, South Korea, Sweden, Taiwan, the United States and Australia the opportunity to represent their countries in a team format. ?The LPGA is committed to making it as easy as possible for the top players to be available to participate and represent their countries at this prestigious event. It has a wonderful spirit along with a charitable component for the local community,? Carolyn Bivens, commissioner of the LPGA, said. For Rosales and Delasin, who both have had a rollercoaster ride in the 2008 LPGA season, the event date is not important. What matters for them is to win it again and be the first tandem to do so, earn as much from it and end the year with a bang. ?The change of date gives me the opportunity to prepare for the World Cup. I have called up Dorothy and we have discussed plans for our defense. In the meantime, I?ll be working on improving my game through coach Bong Lopez,? Rosales said. Adrian Flores
