Puno swears in Antipolo mayor

Vice Mayor Danilo Leyble was sworn in as the 13th mayor of Antipolo City by Secretary Ronaldo Puno at the Department of Interior and Local Government office in Quezon City.

?We are saddened by the sudden passing away of Mayor Vic Sumulong, but all that we have in life are God-given. I did not expect to be given an opporunity to serve in this uneventful manner,? the new mayor said in Filipino.

Sumulong died Jan. 6 due to multiple organ failure related to diabetes at the Makati Medical Center.

?I am about to face a bigger responsibility, but I will do my best or at least equal what Mayor Sumulong has done,? Leyble said.

He was accompanied by Antipolo First District Rep. Robert Puno during the oath taking.

Leyble was reelected vice mayor in the 2007 mid-term polls, the first in such capacity. He was also two-term councilor in 1998-2004 and headed the committees on budget, finance and appropriation.

As national vice president for Luzon, he is national legal adviser for Luzon and deputy treasurer of the Vice Mayor?s League of the Philippines.

Leyble is a practising lawyer and member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines. Gigi Mu?oz David
