Icon?s head stolen from San Agustin

The Intramuros Administration is calling on art collectors and curators to be on the lookout for a statue?s wooden head that was stolen Sept. 10 last year from the San Agustin Museum.

In a statement, the agency says the piece is part of the Santo Santiago Matamoros mounted on a horse.

Museum records indicate that the sculpture is of 19th century vintage using baticuling hardwood, a material preferred in carving religious images.

The entire piece?s dimensions: height?125 centimeters; length?125 cm; and width?86 cm.

The missing head is 20 cm to about 25 cm from turban to beard.

A reward is offered for any information which may be relayed to Anie Guillermo at landline 527-4084 or Armando Arionday at 527-3102.
