| Mishandled magnum downs gunstore clerk
An employee of the Twin Pines gun store was accidentally hit by a .44-cal. magnum revolver yesterday afternoon at the National Police Firearms and Explosives Division in Camp Crame, Quezon City. Senior Supt. Danilo Maligalig, FED chief for operations, said Neljun Soleta, a resident of Quiapo, Manila, was brought to the PNP General Hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound in the stomach. The shooting took place at about 3:45 p.m. yesterday while the victim and a co-employee were marking the firearm for record-keeping inside the FED storage office. Maligalig said suspect Joeben Soldevilla, of 537 Santol St., Sta. Mesa, Manila, was stenciling the handgun when it accidentally went off. Investigators were at a loss why Soldevilla failed to make sure if the revolver had no bullet in its multi-chambered cylinder.
