Road rage: Phillip Salvador attacks bus driver on Edsa

The Mandaluyong City traffic police said actor Phillip Salvador beat up a bus driver over a traffic dispute on Edsa Wednesday morning.

PO3 Marvin Masangkay, case officer, said Michael Baino, 31, of 30 Upper Molave St., Payatas, Quezon City suffered a head wound after being roughed up by the local action star around 10:30 a.m. when the bus he was driving almost hit Salvador?s silver gray car (XSR-910).

?He has to submt his medical certificate,? Masangkay said in Filipino, noting that Baino admitted that his Everlasting Transport bus (PXG-628) was southbound, trying to get near the sidewalk to pick up passengers.

A fuming Salvador suddenly got off his car, cursing Baino right away. Bus conductor Norman Villasan said the actor first tried to reach the driver from the side window, but boarded up instead and started punching.

Villasan noted Salvador?s female companion?at the time unidentified?tried to ease the tension, saying, ?Hon, tama na ?yan (Enough of that).? The attack stopped momentarily but the enraged actor came back to kick the driver once more.

Baino said he offered his apology several times which Salvador ignored. He said traffic enforcers turned the tables on him, issuing a traffic citation for reckless driving allegedly on Salvador?s instructions.

Masangkay said Baino is set to file charges of unjust vexation and physical injuries against the actor, who told police that he would show up at the criminal investigation office. Gigi Mu?oz David
