Que tries to become Country Club 2-time champion

By Adrian Flores

STA. Rosa City?Philippine Golf Tour Order of Merit champion Angelo Que will be looking to accomplish a feat at The Country Club Invitational when he tries to become the second two-time winner of the annual tournament staged by the International Container Terminal Services Inc.

The Asian Tour star, who won two years ago when he fought back from four strokes to turn back Elmer Salvador for the crown, is expected to face a tough challenge from defending champion Juvic Pagunsan, Robert Pactolerin, Mars Pucay, Tony Lascu?a and a new-look Frankie Mi?oza in the chase for a whopping P1.35-million top prize.

The TCC Invitational is the country?s richest golf tournament offering total prize of P4.6 million.

?I feel good and my game is very okay lately.  I hope I could start the year right with a victory this week,? the 30-year-old Que, the reigning Philippine Open champion, said before he teed off in his flight for yesterday?s pro-am side event.

Que, Pactolerin, Pucay, Lascu?a and Mi?oza are just some of the big names in the elite 36-member field, with each hoping to put on low scores on a windy course that requires accuracy and mental toughness for the momentum and confidence heading into the weekend play.

Pagunsan used an impeccable 64 in last year?s opening round as his springboard to success, posting an 11-shot victory over Que in the most lopsided triumph recorded in the six-year staging of the event held in honor of ICTSI founder Enrique ?Don Pocholo? Razon Sr.
