Human smuggling foiled at airport

Immigration authorities at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport foiled another attempt by a human trafficking syndicate to smuggle two Chinese women to the United States, using Manila as a jump-off point.

The two passengers were intercepted at the check-in counter before they could board their flight to Guam en route to the US mainland.

They were identified as Chen Mei Li and Don See Lang, who possessed Japanese passports.

“They will be deported for using spurious documents after which they will be banned from returning to the Philippines,” Immigration Chief Marcelino Libanan said.

Bureau staff became suspicious of the women when they could not speak fluent Nihongo.

Upon being questioned, they admitted having bought their passports in China. Vito Barcelo
