Washington eager to face former team

HE was once a top overall rookie pick, a sought-after free agent and now one of the vital cogs of San Miguel Beer. Now, Jay Washington is more excited than ever to face his former team Talk N Text in the coming KFC-Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup.

For Washington, it?s not personal. It?s business.

?I?m not thinking of getting personal against Talk N Text,? said Washington. ?I have a job and that is to help my team. Right now, we?re focused in our semifinal game and we hope we can bring our energy back in the Final Four.?

Washington was traded by the Tropang Texters during the off-season to the Beermen, whose frontline was decimated by injuries.

The 6?7? Fil-Am quickly blended with the star-studded Beermen and even played the starting forward position, with two-time Most Valuable Player Danny Ildefonso, Danny Seigle and Marc Pingris watching in the sidelines.

His minutes have gone down and his production have become lesser with the return of The Dynamite, but Washington provides the depth up front?a key factor in the Beermen?s Final Four bid against the souped-up Tropang Texters.

?Jay Wash provides us a lot of options. With him inside, we can spread the floor more and we can interchange his position with either Seigle or any of our wing men,? said San Miguel Beer coach Siot Tanquingcen. Rey Joble
