Air21 presents documents

THE special board meeting called by chairman Joaqui Trillo to discuss the media-publicized plans of Air21 to change its team name to Burger King in the import-reinforced conference nothing much was achieved.

Air21 board representative and Philippine Basketball Association vice chairman Lito Alvarez indicated that 60 percent of the stake in Burger King was owned by Air21 team owner Bert Lina and that the necessary documents were submitted to the board.

There are indications that in the future, current investors Manuel V. Pangilinan and Ricky Vargas of PLDT-Smart would increase their shareholdings, although they have made it clear that the investment was private and in no way involves PLDT-Smart.

Vargas told www.insidesports.ph,

Standard Today and Viva Sports that they will be transparent all the time.

While Red Bull team manager Tony Chua, who was also named manager of the PBA-supported Philippine Team, has hinted that he plans to quit as team manager, he hasn?t informed the board officially.

PBA commissioner Sonny Barrios noted that if Chua resigns, then his successor would have to be chosen by the board. Barrios made the statement following rumors that Mikee Romero, who is expected to take over as Air21 (Burger King) manager, would become RP Team manager.

He also noted that Romero is not even a member of the board or a representative of Air21 (Burger King) as yet. Ronnie Nathanielsz
