ABDC comes to Manila

By Marane Plaza

Starting Monday, tune in to ETC at exactly 9 p.m. and see Filipino-American dance crews step up at the much-anticipated Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew. Watch out for our very own Jabbawoockeez and SuperCrew outdance, outgroove, and outcool competitors as they hip, bop and pop on the hottest dancefloor to hit town.

From executive producer Randy Jackson and the creators of the World Hip Hop Championship comes the most visual and captivating performance competition show ever to hit TV.

Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew is a weekly television event featuring young hip teams demonstrating their athleticism and creativity with innovative choreographed routines. Each team will consist of five to seven members who will perform their own inventive routines set to today’s hottest pop music and will be challenged to create new steps choreographed to musical themes assigned by guest stars and a panel of experts.

In the Philippines ABDC kicked off with viewing party at the Warehouse 135 Club in Makati City last Feb. 2. ETC Chill Spot TV show hosts Karen Pamintuan, Rich Herrera and Gino Quillamor rocked the house as they presented the very first episode of the craziest dance competition to ever hit America.

UP Streetdance Club’s The Crew also showed off their sooo-hood dance moves, proving that Pinoy dancers also have the passion and talent for dancing.

Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew is hosted by Mario Lopez (Dancing with the Stars and Pacific Blue) and features Layla Kayleigh as the backstage correspondent. The show is produced by American Idol judge Randy Jackson.

The premiere episode featured nine top dance crews in America that will compete for the ultimate win. The groups competed for the MasterMix Challenge, and three groups performed for each round. One team had to “represent” for each round, and one had to go home.

A panel of judges, including renowned choreographer Shane Sparks (So You Think You Can Dance), JC Chasez (‘Nsync) and rap and R&B artist/choreographer Lil Mama (Lip Gloss, G-Slide), will critique the performances, while viewers will determine the winning crew via text messaging, phone and online voting.

Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew airs every Monday night at 9 p.m. on ETC.
