| Erap annoints JV?s mom as next mayor
Former President Joseph Estrada has named his candidates in 2010 led by Guia Gomez, mother of San Juan Mayor Joseph Victor Ejercito, who is in his last term. He said his decision to pick Gomez to run as mayor would not be an issue in the Estrada/Ejercito clan. In earlier interviews, Gomez told Standard Today that she would continue the projects of her son, who is being groomed for a place in Erap?s senatorial slate. ?I think the mother of JV will be a very good choice and she?s a potential candidate for mayorship because she has all the experience,? Estrada said. Ejercito welcomed the patriarch?s pronouncement. ?Hopefully all?s well in San Juan, by the time she runs I think the family would stick together with regard to politics,? he said. According to Estrada, his 2010 senatorial lineup are Senator Jinggoy Estrada, who at one time was rumored to be eyeing the vice presidency; Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile; former Senator Serge Osme?a; Para?aque Rep. Roilo Golez; UNO spokesman Adel Tamano and ZTE-NBN whistle- blower Joey de Venecia III. Sources indicated that ABS-CBN TV and radio anchor Ted Failon is being wooed to join the opposition bloc. At ground level, Estrada would not conceal his displeasure over the looming merger involving the Nationalist People?s Coalition and that of Lakas and Kampi. In such event, he said he would dump NPC candidates, including Senator Loren Legarda. Estrada said Legarda may even share the fate of quondam opposition members, former Senators Tito Sotto and Tessie Aquino Oreta. Gigi Mu?oz David |
