TABACO CITY?Soldiers killed two suspected communist rebels and captured another in an encounter in Sua Igot village here on Wednesday, an official said yesterday.

Authorities were still establishing the identities of the two slain men, Army Col. Ariel Bernardo said.

He said the firefight took place around 5:30 p.m. and lasted about 15 minutes after soldiers encountered 10 suspected communist guerrillas.

Soldiers were still looking for the rebels who had fled after the fighting, Bernardo said. Mar S. Arguelles
