| Bayan Academy offers short courses on entrepreneurship
Bayan Academy is offering more professional/management certificate courses (PMCCs) in its training schedule for the first quarter of 2009. Seeing the need to provide organizations with deeper insights and perspectives on entrepreneurship and management, Bayan Academy, under the leadership of Dr. Eduardo Morato Jr., ABS-CBN Bayan president, has developed PMCCs for people in social development institutions, foundations, MFIs (microfinance institutions), banks, and cooperatives. Such courses provide the basics of how an organization functions and how to improve the managerial skills of entry, middle and top level management team. Registration fee is P2,000 per day per participant. “The development sectors of society, especially those involved in the socio-economic upliftment of the less privileged, have limited access to good quality entrepreneurship and management education programs. ABS-CBN Bayan recognizes this need to mainstream entrepreneurship and management education among microfinance institutions, banks, and cooperatives which have the potential to spur the development of enterprises,” says ABS-CBN Bayan president, Dr. Eduardo Morato Jr. Bayan Academy, a non-stock, non-profit educational subsidiary of ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation, concretizes the foundation’s commitment to democratize entrepreneurship and management education as its way of uplifting the lives of the Filipinos and building the nation from below. The Bayan Academy also provides livelihood and skills training courses to equip microfinance clients with the necessary skills to put up micro-enterprises or obtain jobs or employment. It serves as the learning hub and a laboratory for developing new learning methodologies and technologies for teaching entrepreneurship and management and for developing innovative learning materials that cater to the entrepreneurial poor.
