Lawyers’ color-code exemption pressed

Juan Crisostomo Echiverri, a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, has appealed to the Metro Manila Development Authority to exempt lawyers from its Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program.

The son of Caloocan City Mayor Enrico Echiverri said MMDA should consider the free legal assistance provided by practising lawyers to the public.

The color-coding scheme, he notes, tends to restrict the movement of counsels particularly those attending hearings, filing of pleadings and complying with court requirements.

Belonging to the IBP-Calmana (Caloocan-Malabon-Navotas) Chapter, the younger Echiverri says the annual 60-hour service is mandated by the Supreme Court. Gigi Muñoz David
