| Galoc set to resume oil production next week
Galoc Production Co. expects to resume oil production from the Galoc field in northwest Palawan next week. Galoc Production, operator of the Galoc field, said in an advisory to stakeholders, that the installation and re-connection of sub-sea equipment were nearing completion due to favorable weather conditions. The Galoc field started producing oil at an average of 12,000 to 15,000 barrels a day in October. It has since produced more than 700,000 barrels of oil, which was sold in the Philippines and abroad for refining. It stopped production in the middle of December when the mooring and riser system to the Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading vessel was disconnected due to bad weather. “GPC is pleased to report progress towards re-commencement of production from the Galoc field, offshore the Philippines; the diver re-instatement of the mooring and riser system has been completed and the umbilical plus sub-sea equipment integrity testing successfully concluded,” it said. The company said installation of the mooring system enhancement, specifically the additional lines to be connected to the FPSO stern, was progressing with the first system installed and hook-up to the FPSO ongoing. “Once completed, change out of the riser sections will be undertaken. At this time, weather remains favorable and completion of the re-instatement activities and re-commencement of production is anticipated next week,” Galoc Production said. Alena Mae S. Flores |
