| Malabon marks red-letter day
Mayor Arnold Vicencio leads volunteer doctors of the Malabon Health Office in today’s medical mission. He said residents could avail of consultation, x-ray, vitamins and medicines. According to Vicencio, an active benefactor is Pastor Hadjong Song of the Korean Food for the Hungry International, which has donated children’s books and clothes to the Aklat Foundation scholars, and reference books to the city’s public school libraries. “Because of financial constraint, people tend to take their health for granted. They would rather spend on their daily necessities such as food than buy vitamins. And I feel it’s my moral obligation to be able to reach out to them and to be of service to them. We are truly blessed to have friends like KFHI who share the same advocacy and concern for the poor,” he said. A community gathering would be held tomorrow at 8 a.m. on Atis and Maligaya roads in Potrero initiated by Aklat Foundation, which was founded to foster the development of the youth through academic formation, spiritual growth and values formation. “Parents are invited to attend the free livelihood training programs offered by the foundation. As of this date, 107 beneficiaries, both in elementary and high school, were given the opportunity to realize their dreams. Equipped with knowledge, perseverance and right values, achieving our vision will be our greatest victory,” said Vicencio. |
