Life’s symphony

By Bob Zozobrado

As I savor every part of life’s beautiful symphony, let me share with you where I’ve been to recently.

Sonata

Robinsons Land Corp., led by its president and chief operating officer Frederick Go, introduced the stylish Sonata Private Residences showroom at this mixed-use development complex’s future site—corner of San Miguel and Lourdes Avenues, in the heart of the Ortigas business district. The innovative community will have three components: a residential wing (with one-to-three-bedroom units), an office building, and a de luxe hotel, all with easy access to posh shopping malls, modern dining outlets and top private schools. The showroom is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and more information is available through 683-6101 or at www.robinsonsproperties.com.ph

Soiree

Marco Polo Plaza Cebu recently hosted Soiree Beaujolais Cebu 2008, featuring fine French wines made from the maiden grape harvest of the season. The hotel transformed its majestic Grand Ballroom into the Loire Valley, where affable general manager Hans Hauri served guests authentic French gourmet specialties and overflowing red wine made from Gamay grapes produced in the Beaujolais region of France. Le Club president Bernard Flour and Soiree Beaujolaise co-founder Philip Gaultier witnesses Cebu’s glittering social set and the ceremonial uncorking of the first bottle, by amiable Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia, Marco Polo Plaza Davao general manager Stanley Lau, French Honorary Consul Michel Lhuillier, and Tourism Undersecretary Phineas Alburo.

Mav Rufino unveils Romanza. Newspaper columnist, business executive, artist and romantic-at-heart Mav Rufino is all set to open her 15th solo art exhibit next Monday, Feb. 23, at The Peninsula Manila. Romanza is also a book of poetry, which will be launched on the same date, with Rufino supplying the artwork for the poetry of National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario. Best known for her ethereal “Dreamscapes” paintings, her masterpieces have also been exhibited in Paris and San Francisco. Going beyond watercolor, acrylic and mixed media on canvas, she also captures the artistry of three-dimensional pieces, like furniture and bags. The exhibit runs until Feb. 28, and beneficiaries are St. Mary’s House for Girls in Tagaytay and Serra’s Center for Girls in Pasay.

YOUR WEEKEND CHUCKLE:

A man had open-heart bypass surgery and awakened to find himself in the care of nuns at a Catholic hospital. As he was recovering, a nun asked him how he was going to pay for his medical bills, to which he replied in a raspy voice “No health insurance… no money in the bank… no relatives… I only have a spinster sister who is a nun.” The nun got agitated and announced loudly, “Nuns are NOT spinsters… nuns are married to God!” The patient replied, “In that case, send the bill to my brother-in-law!”
