| Harbour Centre guns for 6th title in a row
HARBOUR Centre tries to put a fitting climax to its four-year domination in the Philippine Basketball League today by going for its sixth straight title when it plays Magnolia Purewater in Game 4 of their PG Flex Linoleum Cup championship series at The Arena in San Juan. Since this will be the last conference that they will be using the Harbour Centre jersey, the Batang Pier want nothing else but a glorious exit. The Batang Pier of Mikee Romero have secured their place in the PBL history by eclipsing the four straight championships of Stag when it beat Hapee Toothpaste for their fifth championship last year. Harbour Centre coach Jorge Gallent said the championship could be much sweeter if they win it today?and not on Thursday (Game 5). Game time is at 2:30 p.m. with the momentum clearly on Harbour?s side following its surprisingly easy 93-73 win over the Wizards last Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig. Meantime, the league, led by commissioner Chino Trinidad and deputy commissioner Tommy Ong, will honor the prominent members of the Class of 2008?Hapee?s Gabe Norwood and Harbour?s Ty Tang and Solomon Mercado during a simple ceremony. ?This is the mother of all battles for us,? said Gallent. ?We have to play as if there?s no more tomorrow.? |
