Atienza’s ‘Buhayin’ slate tops survey

Candidates of Buhayin ang Maynila ticket for the May 14 election led in the survey held last April 5 to 17 by the Asia Research Center Inc.

The 34-year-old Ali Atienza topped other Manila mayoral bets, notching 34 percent of the votes from 3,000 respondents of the city’s six districts on a margin of error at 3 percent.

The survey said Atienza received majority of his votes from male respondents and youth voters.

The results showed mayoral bet Danilo Lacuna (Asenso Manileño) following with 22 percent, and Senator Alfredo Lim in third with 18 percent.

Fourth place was Rodolfo Bacani with 13 percent; and Maria Jimenez, Mark Jimenez’s sister, who recently withdrew her candidacy, was last at 8 percent. The results showed that only 5 percent of the respondents abstained or were undecided.

Asia Research used face-to-face interviews to obtain answers particularly on who among the mayoral aspirants, vice mayor, congressmen and councilors they would vote for on May 14.

Meanwhile, the survey showed Atienza’s running mate Don Bagatsing as preferred candidate for vice mayoral post, getting 33 percent of votes from the same respondents.

Lacuna’s running mate Isko Moreno placed second with 28 percent; Joey Hizon, 25 percent; Robert Ortega, 6 percent; and Grepor Belgica, 5 percent.

Congressional and councilor bets of the Buhayin ang Maynila ticket also led the race in the same survey.
